The Apple Watch Series 10 is now available in Malaysia. Here's what you need to know before buying it.

The first thing you'd notice — if you're a tech or Apple lover — is the size and weight of the tech giant's latest smartwatch.

The Apple Watch 10 also comes packed with new features, some useful and others... well, they make for good conversation starters.

That said, the most striking change in the Apple Watch 10 is the significantly larger screen.

Apple has increased the display size of the Apple Watch by a whopping 30% compared to previous models (we're looking at you, Series 6), even surpassing that of the Apple Watch Ultra 2

This larger screen translates to more visible text, clearer photos, and an overall enhanced viewing experience.

The watch is available in new 42mm and 46mm sizes, and even the smaller option feels more expansive than before.

During my time with it, the readability and vividness of the display were evident, though a more comprehensive test will reveal just how practical the extra screen space is.

But what blew me away was the fact that you can now view the watch at an angle when you're either typing on your computer or out running — a feature that's not available on the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The Apple Watch 10 is slimmer and lighter — in fact, it's Apple' thinnest watch to date

Apple has managed to fit this larger screen into a thinner and lighter body.

Part of this improvement comes from a design tweak: the new back component integrates the antenna, reducing the need for extra layers.

Trying it on, the watch feels remarkably sleek on the wrist, which might make it a more attractive option for those who have been considering the Apple Watch Ultra but were deterred by its bulk.

The lighter design should also appeal to users who like to wear their watch overnight for sleep tracking, as it feels less intrusive. This brings me to...

Health features continue to be a priority for Apple, and the Apple Watch 10 introduces sleep apnea detection

The Sleep Apnea Detection feature tracks breathing disturbances over time, notifying users if there are signs that may indicate sleep apnea.

Apple's push into this space isn’t surprising, especially with competitors like Samsung also integrating similar functions in their devices. While still in its early days, this could be a game-changer for users who want more comprehensive health monitoring from their smartwatch.

The Apple Watch Series 10 also retains the robust health and fitness tracking suite found in its predecessors. This includes heart rate monitoring, ECG capabilities, blood oxygen tracking, and an array of workout modes.

While there are new features, Apple has continued to enhance its already a well-established set of health tools, which is always good for its users.

The Apple Watch 10 also borrows features from the Apple Watch Ultra, making it an enticing option

Apple is trying to bridge the gap between its flagship watch and the Ultra by offering more advanced features without the premium price tag of the higher-end model.

The Series 10 now includes a water temperature sensor and depth gauge. These enhancements will appeal to water sports enthusiasts who want detailed data during their activities.

All of these features are great, but what hasn't changed, you ask?

The Apple Watch 10 retains the same digital crown and lacks an action button

Despite some hopes that Apple would introduce an action button similar to the one on the iPhone 16, the Series 10 maintains the familiar Digital Crown and side button setup.

While the Digital Crown remains intuitive, this does not mean users won't encounter any new ways to interact with their device this time around.

That said, the Apple Watch Series 10 is appealing as a daily wearable, especially for those who use it as a sleep tracker. While Series 9 users may find the improvements feel incremental, those with older models, will notice a more significant upgrade.

Stay tuned for a more comprehensive review once we test the Series 10 in different scenarios.
