While carrying a secondary portable monitor remains a common but clunky compromise, the newly introduced 2026 ASUS Zenbook Duo offers a seamless alternative that has captured our attention.

The innovative device integrates two vibrant 14-inch high refresh rate OLED displays into a portable form factor, essentially packing a dual-screen desktop workstation into a standard briefcase.

SAYS was able to try it out for a couple of weeks, and here's what we think about the laptop.

Beyond its striking visual appeal, the true capabilities of the machine rely on a revolutionary internal architecture

For its 2026 iteration, ASUS equipped the laptop with Intel's new flagship processor — the Core Ultra X9 388H.

Belonging to the advanced "Panther Lake" silicon family, this chip represents a ground-up architectural redesign rather than a simple incremental upgrade.

Intel fabricated the Core Ultra X9 388H utilising a cutting-edge 1.8nm manufacturing process.

This microscopic architecture shrinks electrical pathways significantly, enabling faster data transmission while drastically curbing high power consumption and heat generation. In other words, that's like jamming an F1 engine in a Kancil; supplying it a lot of power while remaining energy efficient.

Consequently, users can execute resource-heavy applications directly on their laptops without experiencing extreme thermal throttling or triggering loud, disruptive cooling fans.

The powerful Intel Ultra X9 uses a sophisticated 16-core configuration designed to optimise power distribution during intense multitasking sessions

The workload is divided among four high-performance cores for demanding tasks, eight efficiency cores for everyday software applications, and four low-power cores that quietly manage background processes like email synchronisation.

This intelligent distribution ensures the system remains highly responsive, allowing a user to run dozens of web browser tabs alongside video calls without any system lag.

We tried opening our usual lineup of browser tabs for work, and we can genuinely say that the Ultra X9 really pulled its weight. Everything was buttery smooth, and there was no perceptible lag.

Historically, ultra-thin productivity laptops struggled with graphical workloads unless they were bogged down by heavy, battery-draining discrete graphics cards

The Core Ultra X9 388H bypasses this limitation by integrating Intel Arc B390 graphics, which uses Intel's latest desktop-grade architecture.

This allows mobile professionals to smoothly run graphically demanding software and modern video games during leisure hours without requiring a bulky chassis.

Believe it or not, we played Monster Hunter Wilds during lunch hour for a casual hunt, and it ran perfectly fine, reaching a modest but playable 30 frames per second (fps) most of the time.

Battlefield 6 was silky smooth, hitting 60fps, making it highly playable for the professional cum gamer on the go. Esports titles like VALORANT easily hit 120fps, which, paired with the high refresh rate display, makes it an enjoyable gaming experience.

All of this was without the laptop plugged in, and it lasted over 6 hours during our workday.

Artificial intelligence also takes centre stage via an integrated Neural Processing Unit, capable of delivering 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of localised AI computing speed

By executing AI processes directly on the hardware rather than relying on remote cloud servers, the laptop handles features like real-time background blurring and eye-tracking seamlessly.

This localised processing effectively enhances battery life and maintains system performance, ensuring the system remains smooth.

While the 2026 ASUS Zenbook Duo commands a premium price tag for Malaysian consumers, the inclusion of the Core Ultra X9 388H elevates it beyond a mere design novelty

It stands as a highly capable portable workstation engineered to handle both rigorous professional workloads and casual entertainment seamlessly.
