Cycle & Carriage Group has commenced official distribution operations for Leapmotor in Malaysia, marking a major milestone in its expanding multi-brand automotive retail strategy

This strategic development solidifies the company's position within the rapidly growing domestic electric vehicle (EV) sector and deepens its core retail partnership with Stellantis Malaysia.

The distribution operations build directly upon a retail collaboration established between the two automotive entities in 2024.

Over the past years, Cycle & Carriage has actively expanded Leapmotor's retail footprint across Malaysia by setting up prominent outlets in George Town, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru.

These locations complement the brand's primary flagship 3S centre situated in Glenmarie. To date, Leapmotor's national network consists of 12 sales locations and six service centres, with plans to launch additional facilities before the end of December 2026.

Adrian Short, chief executive officer of Cycle & Carriage, noted that Malaysia is entering an advanced phase of electric mobility adoption

He explained that modern consumers increasingly demand smart, technology-driven vehicles that seamlessly balance digital innovation with everyday practicality.

Short emphasised that the group intends to establish Leapmotor as an accessible premium EV brand, backed comprehensively by robust retail execution and long-term aftersales customer support.

Concurrently, local assembly operations have officially kicked off at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Gurun, Kedah

Isaac Yeo, managing director of Stellantis ASEAN, confirmed that completely knocked-down (CKD) production for the flagship Leapmotor C10 SUV began between April and May 2026.

The conglomerate has invested more than RM25 million into upgrading the infrastructure and production lines of the wholly owned facility, which boasts a total annual manufacturing capacity of 60,000 units.

The 2026 Leapmotor C10 Plus is currently priced at RM148,000, with a temporary launch rebate of RM9,000. Meanwhile, the B10 model retails between RM99,800 and RM109,800.

While immediate vehicle assembly focuses on satisfying local demand, Stellantis eventually plans to utilise the full 60,000-unit annual manufacturing capacity to export vehicles beyond the ASEAN region

This long-term export objective remains in motion despite regional challenges — such as the current lack of a localised battery ecosystem — and the absence of special tax incentives under the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA).
