The government is exploring age verification mechanisms for online gaming platforms to protect minors
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the government is weighing whether to enforce electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) age checks on online gaming platforms like Roblox.
The proposed move aims to safeguard underage users and curb potential misuse by radical or extremist groups.

However, user identification and age validation remain the primary challenges.
According to the New Straits Times, Fahmi's comments follow concerns raised by former deputy inspector-general of police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay regarding child safety in digital spaces.
The government, alongside the National Security Council, continues to monitor potential platform abuses
Law enforcement agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), stand ready to act if necessary.
