I tested the new Sonos Play to see if it can help rebuild that lost trust.
Priced at RM1,898, this is a serious investment designed to be a high-end home and outdoor hybrid.
The device comes in two colours: White and Black. I got to try out the Black variant.

It looks like a chic, minimalist art piece, but it is built like a tank.
It comes with an IP67 rating, meaning it can easily withstand sudden afternoon downpours.
The acoustic performance is impressive, delivering crisp vocals and a wide soundstage
It features Automatic Trueplay, which constantly tunes the audio output to match your room.
Just avoid cranking the volume past 80%, as the bass tends to struggle at higher levels.
Keep in mind that 'portable' is a relative term here since the speaker weighs a hefty 1.3kg
You won't want to stuff it into a hiking backpack. It is, however, perfect for a backyard barbecue, backed by a stellar 24-hour battery life.
The best news is that the companion app now runs smoothly. It streams seamlessly from Spotify and switches effortlessly to standard Bluetooth the moment you leave your home network.
The Sonos Play is certainly not for everyone
If you just want a cheap speaker for your gym bag, this is complete overkill.
However, if you want a gorgeous, flexible, and rugged home speaker that can travel, the Sonos Play is an absolute winner.
