A truck fell off a cliff and into a river near Ubud, Bali, after its driver followed directions from Google Maps
Agus Tri Pamungkas referred to the app as he did not know how to get to Singakerta village in Ubud from Banyuwangi, East Java.
He needed to get to the village to drop off a truckload of rocks, The Straits Times reported.
According to a witness, the truck driver was following a route on Google Maps that should only be recommended to motorcyclists
"When he got to a bridge, he considered turning back," said I Ketut Sumardika.
However, he explained that Agus could not turn around "because the road was not more than three meters."
Agus had no choice but to continue driving to a damaged uphill road, where his truck stalled and upended into the Wos River near Banjar Gelogor, Lodtunduh village
Nearby villagers helped rescue him by cutting through bamboo trees at the location.
The 23-year-old driver, who sustained bruises and sprains, has since been released from the hospital.
Gianyar Public Works Agency head I Nyoman Nuadi has since called for a sign to be placed on the road warning large vehicles from going that way, The Jakarta Post reported.
