Malaysian ChatGPT users can now book Bolt rides directly through the AI assistant

The integration, available to ChatGPT's 900 million weekly users worldwide, allows users to plan routes and check fares without switching apps.

Users can compare route options, view upfront fare estimates, and check real-time driver arrivals straight from their chat window.

The artificial intelligence (AI) interface also suggests optimal pickup spots to reduce wait times.

"People don't plan their evening in five different apps anymore. A lot of that planning happens in one conversation with AI now," said Bolt Malaysia general manager Afzan Lutfi.

"For years, booking a ride meant opening a dedicated ride-hailing app. As more everyday interactions take place through AI, we think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go," he added.

While trip details automatically transfer to the main app to finalise bookings, in-chat payments are set to launch later this year.

Here's how to book a Bolt ride directly in ChatGPT

• STEP 1: Log in to ChatGPT and go to ChatGPT's plugin page here and connect Bolt to ChatGPT by clicking on 'Install plugin'.
  
• STEP 2: Click on 'New chat' and in the conversation box, click on the '+' icon to select Bolt from the dropdown menu.
  
• STEP 3: Tell ChatGPT your location and where you want to go.
  
• STEP 4: ChatGPT will show you available Bolt routes. Select your preferred route.
  
• STEP 5: Enjoy your ride.
