Cloudflare data reveals bots account for over 57% of all web activity, fueled by aggressive AI training scrapers
Cloudflare chief executive officer Matthew Prince revealed that bot traffic has surpassed human traffic online for the first time in history.
Taking to X, Prince shared his blunt assessment of the Internet: "Welp, that happened faster than I predicted."
He added: "I thought it would be the end of 2027, then early 2027, but agentic traffic is growing so fast that bots have now passed human traffic online for the first time in the Internet's history."
According to data from Cloudflare, between 52% and 62% of all Internet traffic originates from bots at any given point during the day
Over a seven-day period, bots accounts for roughly 57.4% of traffic, leaving humans with a meagre 42.5%, the platform revealed.
This sudden surge is not driven by traditional search engine crawlers but by AI agents aggressively scraping web content for training data.
Geographically, the island of Gibraltar ranks first in bot activity at a staggering 92.1%, while Singapore follows closely in second place at 76.3%.
Tech outlet Tom's Hardware pointed out that these metrics track only total page loads rather than actual user engagement.
While a human pauses to read an article, an automated bot scrapes the entire page instantly and moves on, artificially inflating the overall traffic data.
