Pokémon card game fans, rejoice: A new Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is coming to mobile phones this year.

Nintendo and Creatures Inc. have unveiled a new mobile TCG titled Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.

This game allows players to open digital Pokémon card packs and interact with them just like physical cards. The announcement was made during Nintendo's recent Pokémon Presents showcase. It's important to note that this game is distinct from other TCG games like Pokémon TCG Live.

Check out the announcement below:

Here's how the game will differ from other Pokémon card games:

While Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket allows players to trade and battle with other players, its primary focus appears to be on the collecting aspect. The game's trailer showcases players opening booster packs and inspecting various cards, each featuring a unique design and style, contributing to their growing collection of cards.

This emphasis on collecting suggests that players enjoy discovering and acquiring new cards to expand their collection.

In addition to its focus on collecting, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket aims to streamline TCG battles to enhance the overall gameplay experience. By making battles more fast-paced, the game enables players to engage in quick battles whenever and wherever, facilitating convenient and spontaneous gameplay sessions. This approach mirrors the gameplay style of titles like Marvel Snap, where players can easily dive in and out of matches, providing flexibility and accessibility for players on the go.

And that's not all — the cards themselves are special too!

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket introduces a unique feature that takes advantage of the digital nature of the game.

Players can collect 'immersive cards', which allow them to explore beyond the boundaries of a traditional paper cards. By interacting with these cards, players can delve into expanded card art and animations within a small section of the Pokémon card. This feature provides an innovative and immersive experience that is only possible in a digital collecting environment, setting the game apart from similar titles in the genre.
