Your iPhone Could Be The Reason Why Your Phone Call Quality Sucks
Compared to cheaper phones, the iPhone might be one of the worst in terms of antenna signal.
The iPhone might look great and offers a lot of great features, but when it comes to making phone calls, they are said to be the worst
A study conducted across Scandinavian countries found out that new iPhones are among the worst, with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 and iPhone SE rated poor for signal quality in a test involving 26 smartphones
The phones were tested on their ability to transmit in the GSM 900 signal band – commonly used for voice conversation.
The first part of the research looked at phones as they are tested for specifications – making calls in free space, and looking at how well antennas connected.
The second put the phone next to a false “phantom” head and in a variety of different fake hand grips, and then measured how much of a difference that made.
Three much cheaper phones (the Samsung J1, Samsung S5 Mini and HTC Desire 626) were rated best for signal quality
Lead researcher Professor Gert Frølund Pedersen, from Denmark’s Aalborg University said, ‘Apple has had problems and they continue to have them. It also seems that the problems are greater in their newer phones, which is incredible.’
What's interesting is that the phones perform slightly better if held in the right hand. Sorry, lefties!
It is believed the way the antenna is placed within the phone is the reason why holding it with the left hand can contribute to lower phone reception.
