Paying for meals, shopping online, transferring money to friends, or topping up your Touch 'n Go NFC card a little faster are all part of everyday life now.

But beyond these familiar functions, there are several features built into the app that many users may not be taking full advantage of.

Here's what you're missing out on:

1. GO+ helps your idle eWallet funds earn daily returns

Many people keep extra money in their eWallet balance for convenience. Whether it's for daily expenses, toll payments, or online purchases, those funds often remain untouched until they're needed.

Instead of letting that money sit idle, GO+ allows eligible users to enjoy low-risk returns that are credited daily to their balance. As with any investment-linked feature, returns are not guaranteed and may fluctuate. The feature is designed to be simple to set up, making it an option worth exploring for users who regularly maintain funds in their eWallet.

2. SOS Balance can save you from getting stuck at the toll

Running low on eWallet balance while approaching a toll plaza is a situation many drivers have experienced at least once. Whether you've forgotten to top up or simply misjudged your remaining balance, it can quickly become an inconvenience during a busy commute.

That's where SOS Balance comes in. Available to eligible TNG eWallet users, the feature automatically covers toll charges at RFID and PayDirect-enabled toll plazas when your eWallet balance is insufficient, helping you continue your journey without interruption.

The amount used will need to be repaid within 24 hours, and once you reload your eWallet, the outstanding balance will be automatically deducted. There are no additional fees for using the feature, making it a handy safety net for those unexpected low-balance moments. However, repeated reliance on the feature without timely repayment may affect future eligibility.

3. The TNG eWallet Visa Travel Card rewards you for spending overseas

Travelling overseas often means dealing with a long list of expenses, from transportation and accommodation to shopping and dining.

The TNG eWallet Visa Travel Card is designed to make spending abroad a little more rewarding by offering up to 3% cashback on overseas spending. In simple terms, if you spend RM1,000 while travelling, you could get up to RM30 back. For frequent travellers, these small savings can quickly add up over multiple trips, helping you stretch your travel budget a little further each time.

On top of that, the card also comes with one free overseas ATM withdrawal every month. This means if you ever need cash while abroad, you can simply withdraw it from any Visa-supported ATM without worrying about extra withdrawal fees for that first transaction.

Whether you're heading overseas for business, a family holiday, or a weekend getaway, having a payment option that rewards spending abroad can help ease some of the usual travel costs. Just be sure to check the cashback cap and terms, as promotional rates may change over time.

Getting started is also straightforward, as you can apply directly through the TNG eWallet app.

4. You can get insurance coverage through TNG eWallet from as low as RM6.50

Insurance is something many people know they should have, but getting started can feel overwhelming. Some assume it requires a big financial commitment, while others simply don't know where to begin.

Through TNG eWallet, users can access protection products under the Perlindungan Tenang initiative, a Bank Negara Malaysia programme designed to make basic insurance and takaful more affordable and accessible for Malaysians.

One option is GE Insure under the Tenang framework, with plans starting from as low as RM6.50, making basic coverage more accessible for everyday users.

Eligible STR recipients may also receive a RM30 Perlindungan Tenang Voucher (PTV), which can be used to offset the cost of qualifying protection plans with a minimum spend of RM50. Non-STR recipients can still purchase these plans directly at standard pricing. Eligibility and age requirements may vary depending on the insurer, so it's best to check the details before signing up.

Just found out about some of these features too? Worth a look the next time you open the app.

And while you may not need every feature immediately, knowing they're there can make all the difference when the need eventually arises.

To find out more or explore other features you might need, you can simply use the new and improved search function within the TNG eWallet app.
