NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's iconic signed black leather jacket was recently sold at a Sotheby's auction for a whopping USD960,000 (RM3.9 million)

Every tech era has its signature uniform, from Steve Jobs' black turtleneck to Bill Gates' signature "tech-dad" aesthetic and Mark Zuckerberg's grey T-shirts.

Today, NVIDIA chief executive officer Jensen Huang holds the tech fashion crown with his signature black leather jacket.

On 17 July, one of Huang's leather jackets went under the hammer at Sotheby's auction house.

The final winning bid surpassed initial estimates of USD60,000 (RM246,000) by more than 16 times

While Sotheby's has kept the buyer's identity secret, the Tom Ford jacket originally retailed for around USD9,000 (RM37,000) in stores.

The massive price tag reflects Huang's soaring celebrity status, fuelled by worldwide demand for NVIDIA's artificial intelligence (AI) microchips.

Authenticated by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), this specific piece was worn by Huang at a Foxconn event in Taipei on 18 October 2023, and features his signature inside the inner pocket

Proceeds from the sale will go to Edge Institute, a non-profit organisation funding workers at the frontiers of technology, science, culture, and society in small towns.

It turns out that wearing the unofficial uniform of the AI revolution does not come cheap, but at least the money will go towards a good cause.
