Spotify is set to bring its audiobook feature to its Malaysian users

If you frequently find yourself frustrated by region-locked features on the Spotify app, you are definitely not alone.

For years, we have missed out on various perks that users in select markets enjoy every day.

Fortunately, the streaming giant is finally bridging the gap by expanding its audiobook library to over 180 countries, including Malaysia.

The wider audiobook rollout arrives by the end of this year

Spotify first introduced audiobooks three years ago, but the feature had been firmly locked to just 22 regions until now.

The global expansion will not happen immediately, but the company plans to finalise the rollout by the end of 2026.

Once it goes live, paying customers will gain access to a massive catalogue of over 350,000 titles spanning 120 languages.

Eligible Premium subscribers receive up to 12 hours of audiobook listening each month

In Malaysia, Premium options include the following tiers: Student, Individual, Duo, and Family plans, priced at RM9.50, RM17.50, RM24.50, and RM27.90 per month, respectively.

Voracious readers who burn through their allotted time can top up their monthly limit with a paid Audiobooks+ add-on.

Spotify notes that this add-on serves as the main entry point for listeners in Asia, though availability may vary depending on your plan.

Spotify will also upgrade its Page Match tool to bridge the physical and digital gap

This clever feature lets you scan a printed book's ISBN barcode to find your exact spot within the audiobook version.

It is perfect for seamlessly transitioning from reading a paperback at home to listening on your daily commute.
