"Malaysia Welcomes Tesla" — Tengku Zafrul Confirms Popular EV Brand Is Coming To Malaysia

The minister today, 1 March, announced that the Ministry of International Trade and Industry has approved Tesla's application to import electric vehicles (EV) into Malaysia.

Tesla is confirmed to be establishing an office here in Malaysia, as announced by the International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul

Today, 1 March, the minister confirmed on his social media platforms that Tesla would be establishing a head office, as well as several Tesla Experience & Service Centres, and a Tesla Supercharger network. 

"This will simultaneously create skill-oriented and better paying jobs for Malaysians," said Tengku Zafrul.

As such, Malaysians can expect to see more Tesla battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs) in the country.

This also spells good news for the overall electric vehicle ecosystem in Malaysia.

Details regarding Tesla's operations and hiring in Malaysia are not yet out at the time of writing.

According to Lowyat.net, the business nature of Tesla services includes retail of new motor vehicles, other activities incidental to land transportation, and maintenance or repair of motor vehicles.
