New images of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro sporting a USB-C port have been circling online

9TO5Mac, a media website dedicated to covering all things Apple, received a computer-aided design (CAD) file through an anonymous source.

The CAD file has since been rendered to visualise how the base model of the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro will look like.

The main thing to highlight is that Apple's signature lightning port has been replaced with the highly anticipated USB-C port. The Dynamic Island is also replacing the screen notch on all iPhone models.

Previously, the Dynamic Island was only present in the 'Pro' variants of the device.

Apple's upcoming iPhones are likely to sport a USB-C port due to new EU regulations, but there may be a catch

A tipster on Weibo, who claimed to be an integrated circuit professional with over 25 years of experience working on Intel’s Pentium processors, said that Apple has developed their own version of USB-C, integrated with a specific authenticator chip.

This chip will be embedded into Apple's official cables, specifically for the iPhone 15. As a result, a "this accessory is not supported" prompt may come up if you try to charge the iPhone 15 with third-party cables.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet

It's also worth nothing that the recent Apple iPads sporting USB-C ports do not have this limited functionality, as reported by Tech Nave.

In other news, Apple may be working on an enhanced 'Ultra' iPhone slated for release in 2024:
