This Memory Card Has More Storage Space Than Your Laptop
That's A LOT of space.
Leading memory card maker SanDisk has unveiled a memory card like nothing we've ever seen before - it comes with a whopping storage space of one terabyte (that's 1,000 gigabytes)
SanDisk and its parent company Western Digital unveiled a new one terabyte SDXC card on 19 September, ushering in a new era of tiny memory cards with massive storage capacities.
Calling it the world's largest SD card, the unveiling of the card takes place 16 years after the company introduced the first SanDisk memory card to the world
“Sixteen years ago we introduced the first SanDisk 64MB SD™ card and today we are enabling capacities of 1TB. Over the years our goal has remained the same; continue to innovate and set the pace for the imaging industry.
The SanDisk 1TB SD card prototype represents another significant achievement for the growth of high-resolution content and capacity-intensive applications such as virtual reality," Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product management, Content Solutions Business Unit, Western Digital said.
The 1TB card has nearly doubled up the storage of the equally impressive Extreme Pro 512GB SDXC UHS-1 memory card which was unveiled in 2014
The 512GB card was also the world's largest memory card at that time.
No word yet on when we’ll be seeing this 1TB SDXC card hit the market or how much it will cost when it does
But we're pretty sure the card will come with a hefty price tag when it launches, considering that the 512GB card is currently priced at around RM1,000.
