While most of us know how important it is to save and keep track of our spending, it's often easier said than done

If you've tried using budgeting tools or expenditure apps, you'll understand the struggle of having to manually key in every single time you spend, save, or invest. It's extremely tedious, and can be inaccurate if you forget to log certain spendings. That's where HeyAlfred comes in.

HeyAlfred is a free-to-use app that helps you keep track of your budget and provides financial insights into your spending habits

On HeyAlfred, you'll get to see a full breakdown of your monthly spending without any manual input. Instead, the app will read the transaction data history directly from your internet banking and categorise them into more than 50 different spending categories.

Currently, the app supports three local banks - Maybank, RHB, and CIMB, with more banks and e-wallets soon to be integrated on the platform. You can even sync your investment portfolios such as unit trusts, trading accounts, and cryptocurrency wallets, so you can see a consolidated view of all your finances.

One of the cool features of HeyAlfred is the built-in AI chatbot, 'Alfie', which provides suggestions on how to manage your finances

By naming the app after the butler of Batman, the team behind HeyAlfred wanted to create a personal financial assistant that was just as loyal and helpful as the famous fictional character.

Dubbed as the 'SIRI for your money', Alfie is an AI chatbot that analyses your transactional data and communicates it back to you in friendly chat form. You can ask Alfie your bank balance on a specific day or how much you've spent the past month. It's even programmed to become fluent in the language of gifs, emojis, and even Manglish.

HeyAlfred is a secure to use, read-only app - this means no money can be moved through the app itself

HeyAlfred connects to your phone in read-only mode, so no transactions can be done, only observation. In fact, the app won't even know whose account it is viewing.

With growing concerns on data privacy, HeyAlfred adheres to strict industry encryption standards, similar to what is practised in banks worldwide. The app also never stores your login or your password, and you can opt out at any time.
