Volkswagen Malaysia officially introduced a striking aesthetic upgrade for the iconic Golf GTI on Wednesday, 1 July to celebrate the global 50th anniversary of the legendary hot hatchback

The special aesthetic upgrade is being offered as a complimentary package, meaning it comes at no additional cost to the recommended retail price of the vehicle, which is currently RM255,990

The custom-designed wheels measure 18 inches and feature a bold five-spoke alloy layout styled with a unique Y-spoke configuration. Coated in a striking dark finish, the rims provide a clear view of the vehicle's signature red brake callipers, an element engineered to enhance the hatchback's sporty profile.

Prospective buyers can view the new look in person, as the upgraded vehicles are already available at Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.

The local introduction is part of the brand's global GTI 50 campaign, which commemorates the launch of the original performance hatchback in Germany in 1976

What originally began as a highly classified, secret project by a small team of passionate engineers in the 1970s eventually transformed into a global cult classic that redefined everyday driving excitement.

Alongside the vehicle rollout, the company plans to engage the Malaysian automotive community throughout the year by organising various interactive dealer activations and social media giveaways.
