Microsoft is optimising Windows 11 to run smoother on devices with limited memory, specifically those with 8GB of RAM
If you have ever felt your laptop struggle under the weight of a few browser tabs, Microsoft has heard your frustration.
Windows chief Pavan Davuluri took to X on 1 August to outline the operating system's next priorities.
Since March, the tech giant has been working to rebuild trust by addressing core issues in Windows 11.
Microsoft has identified four key areas to improve before the end of the year, including making low-RAM devices run more smoothly
In his post, Davuluri revealed that Microsoft aims to optimise onboarding and setup, memory optimisation for 8GB PCs, making it easier to set up for families and parental controls, and ensuring voice is more natural across apps.

Microsoft plans to shrink the memory footprint of Windows 11 so that machines with 8GB of RAM feel fast and responsive again.
To achieve a lighter footprint, the company is shifting more UI elements to WinUI rather than heavier WebView components. This comes as Windows devices attempt to offer better performance on limited memory.
"We're going to take everything we've learned since March and keep listening and closing the loop on your feedback. The signal from you is clear: keep going. We intend to," said Davuluri.
