YouTube has rolled out a major update that places highly visible labels on AI-generated photorealistic content
In a recent blog post, YouTube revealed that these labels will now be prominently displayed under the new layout.
Previously, these disclosures were quietly buried where few viewers would look.
Content that is clearly animated or only lightly modified will carry minor disclosures that can be viewed within the expanded description section.
YouTube also introduced automatic AI-detection tools to label AI-generated content
The platform will still require users to manually disclose when they use AI-generation tools.
However, the platform's AI-detection tools will be able to tell if a content is AI-generated or not based on "new internal signals".
"If a creator doesn't specify whether or not they used AI, but our systems detect significant photorealistic AI use, we will now automatically apply a label," YouTube said.

Creators can still correct the label if they feel the automated system made an error.
However, creators cannot sneak past the system or remove the tag if they used YouTube's own AI tools, such as Veo or Dream Screen, to generate the clip.
The same unremovable restriction applies to any uploads containing C2PA metadata.
This digital footprint explicitly proves to the platform that the video was entirely generated by AI.
