It's difficult to get a good profit by selling food at low prices, but the stall operator said that he is doing this to help people who are struggling financially
Shahrizan Azmed who runs his stall in a Chinese-styled coffee shop reportedly said that he holds on to the principle of charity in business (berniaga sambil bersedekah).
"I hope my initiative will at least allow more people to eat out.
"The vast majority of my customers appreciate the opportunity to make a significant saving on some of their favourite food," he said, as reported by New Straits Times.
It was reported that many were surprised that the restaurant is being operated by a Muslim couple
Shahrizan said that bean sprouts chicken rice is traditionally a Chinese cuisine made and sold at Chinese hawker shops, and many Muslims have not been able to enjoy the dish because they have doubts about their halal status.
"However, this bean sprouts chicken rice restaurant is managed by myself, a Malay Muslim.
"I believe this effort indirectly gives everyone a chance to enjoy bean sprouts chicken rice regardless of their religious background," the 37-year-old was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
