Petaling Street was recently ranked as the sixth coolest street in the world by global art and entertainment magazine, Time Out
According to Time Out's list of the Coolest Streets in the World, the ranking highlights must-visit streets, roads, avenues, plazas, and boulevards in cities globally. These are places where locals flock for a guaranteed good time.
The ranking process involved the publication's group of editors and writers nominating the best streets in their respective cities, factoring in food, drink, fun, art, culture, nightlife, and community vibes that exist within them.

"Petaling Street may be one of the city's oldest streets, but it is experiencing a renaissance, with the juxtaposition of Kuala Lumpur's oldest temples rubbing shoulders with the newest drinking and dining spots.
"There's modern Malaysian cuisine made with seasonal, locally sourced produce at Chocha Foodstore, natural wines from around the world at Small Shifting Space, and the city's best street food and souvenirs at the Chinatown stalls in the heart of Petaling Street," wrote the publication.

Meanwhile, Malaysia was ranked as the fifth happiest country in the world in the Global Mind Project's "Mental State of the World" report:
