This September, Malaysians can look forward to the return of the country's "heaviest" ghost when Pontianak 200KG premieres on the big screen

Directed by Suhaimi Lua, the movie will be the sequel to Pontianak 100KG and will see Aya Amiruddin return in the lead role as the food-loving pontianak Melati, who terrorises local villagers by devouring their food.

The cast will also feature other local actors including Dottie, Ropie, Niezam Zaidi, Wanns Ahmad, Malia Baby, Shaf Naufas, Hairul Aziz, and iconic singer Ziana Zain for a horror-comedy of epic proportions.

Pontianak 200KG depicts pontianaks in a different light. No longer a stereotypical ghost figure, pontianaks can also have emotions and diverse cultural backgrounds, hehe.

After two decades of legendary pontianak-themed films in Malaysia, Pontianak 200KG aims to create a retelling of the pontianak lore by conveying a positive message of diversity and inclusivity — even ghosts and spiritual creatures can come in all shapes and sizes!

The iconic pontianak character is ready for a fresh, new take from the next generation, and will terrorise local cinemas this September.
