Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin thanked the Malaysian government for letting them perform at Bukit Jalil National Stadium last night, 22 November

"We welcome you all. Thank you for standing in the rain. Thank you for coming through the traffic.

"Thank you for waiting 27 years for us to come to your country. Thank you to the government for letting us play here," said Martin while playing the piano on stage.

"I wish we'd come to Malaysia sooner than this. Nobody told us you'd be one of the best audiences in the world," he added.

Martin even greeted his 75,000 fans by saying "hi" in three languages — Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, and Tamil.

Throughout the night, the British rock band connected with concertgoers not only through their music but also through banter in Bahasa Melayu

"Jom kita healing bersama (let's heal together)," said a cheeky Martin, using the colloquial term 'healing', which locals use to mean relax, have fun, or escape from our worries.

Coldplay performed for two hours at Bukit Jalil National Stadium last night as part of their The Music of the Spheres World Tour.

The seven-time Grammy Award-winning band performed a total of 26 songs, including Adventure of a Lifetime, Paradise, The Scientist, Viva La Vida, Hymn for the Weekend, Yellow, and People of the Pride, among others.

They also performed an improvised song, Malaysian Rain, and recited a poem in Bahasa Melayu.

Coldplay's performance in Malaysia yesterday marked the end of their concerts for the year, and they are set to resume their tour in Manila, the Philippines, and Singapore next year, reported New Straits Times.
