Company retreats are the best time to bond with your colleagues and get to know each other better.

It's also a great time to channel your creativity, as demonstrated by one woman recently.

Dhiya attended her company retreat's dinner in Ipoh, Perak recently, dressed as the 'Corpse Bride' from the 2005 stop-motion film.

For reference, below is a picture of the Corpse Bride (on the right) from the movie:

And here's Dhiya's look for the night:

She wore a white, long-sleeved "wedding dress" and skillfully applied makeup, achieving a striking resemblance to the film's character

Speaking to SAYS, Dhiya revealed that her initial inclination was to go with a simple costume, as she was lazy to dress up. But, her colleagues encouraged her to go all-out.

"Taking their support and my 'single' status into consideration, I chose to be a corpse bride. Something different but fun," she said.

It took her about an hour and a half to get ready, with most of her time spent on the white base of her makeup

"I'm not familiar with face paint although I did practise once at home. I needed to make sure the first layer dried in order to put on the second layer," she explained, adding that it was challenging as she has limited experience with artistic makeup and a lack of knowledge in contouring.

"It was also a bit tricky because the face paint can't be too watery or it will ruin the base. The remaining steps were quite manageable," she shared.

In her quest to keep costume expenses low and use items readily available at home, Dhiya said that she wore a 'white bridal dress', which was actually her 2018 baju RayaShe relied on white face paint and a colourful makeup palette to complete the rest of her look.

"The veil and tiara were actually what I bought for one of my university club's annual dinner. Save money, save time," she added.

As for the flower crown, she decided to craft it herself using the tiara as a base. She then incorporated roses that she bought at Ipoh Parade, a mall located next to the hotel her company's retreat was held at.

To enhance the look, she added baby's breath that she had bought from the Ipoh Night Market on the day of her arrival.

"It took me about an hour to try to make the flower crown the night before the dinner. I even had extra flowers left to make a small flower bouquet," she said.

Here's the final look:

The 24-year-old's epic costume and makeup paid off, as it earned her a nomination in the 'Best Dressed' category at her company's movie character-themed dinner

Surprised by the nomination, Dhiya asked her colleague, Qutreen, what she should do before she was called on stage.

"I'm an introvert. My hands were super cold. It was a good experience as this was my first company dinner. I tried to not remember what I did on stage though 'cause I'm super shy," she confessed.
