A cat named Baby, owned by Malaysian couple Shaharudin Shuib and Rooaida Mohd Darus, was crowned champion at the FIFe International Cat Show in Oslo, Norway, last Sunday, 3 November

The 9-year-old female cat, representing Malaysia, won the judges' hearts with her calm, friendly, and affectionate nature showcased throughout the judging.

According to Berita Harian, Baby beat hundreds of other competitors from around the world to win the championship title at the event organised by the Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe).

She even competed in the finals against her "sibling" Miko, also owned by the couple.

This win is especially sweet for Baby, who was once just a regular stray

According to Rooaida, Baby is just an ordinary breed cat that was rescued from the streets and has been under the couple's care ever since.

"Baby has been exposed to and trained for public interaction from an early age, including participating in various local cat shows.

"My husband and I often take Baby to participate in shows within the country so that she is more accustomed to crowded environments. This helped cultivate her affectionate and gentle nature," she told Berita Harian.

The proud cat mum added that this award is the best recognition Baby has received so far, as she had to compete with 1,500 other cats participating in the show.

"Baby's beautiful fur and neat grooming done personally by Shaharudin were among the appealing factors to the judges and the audience," she said.

In addition to Baby, Malaysia also sent eight other cats, including four British Shorthair cats, three street cats, and one Bengal cat

Malaysia's other participants in the show were brought by the Malaysian Cat Club (KKM) to promote responsible pet care worldwide.
