A video of a great barracuda, a predatory ray-finned fish, 'manning' Malaysia's first LRT coach reef in Pulau Tioman has impressed not only netizens but also the Tengku Ampuan Pahang
In the 49-second video, taken by Sorte Met Stella Scuba Dive Centre's diving instructor Irwan Ismail, the great barracuda is seen near the LRT coach's control panel.
The fish remains still, gazing out the train's front window frame as if it has a duty to protect the train.
Speaking to SAYS, Irwan said the video was taken on 3 August. He explained that he had seen many great barracudas and other predatory fish in Pulau Tioman.
"I have spotted blacktip reef sharks, barracudas, stingrays, and many more.
"I wouldn't say I was afraid of the great barracuda [as seen in the video], but I had to move cautiously so that it saw me coming closer," he said when contacted.

At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 463,200 views and 54,200 likes on TikTok
Many netizens were astonished by the chilling yet captivating video.
"Woah! How did you film this video? I thought the great barracuda was aggressive, attacking anything on sight," said a netizen. Irwan replied that as long as one does not make any sudden movements and lets the fish see you moving closer slowly, it won’t attack.
"Next station, Barracuda," joked a TikTok user, imitating the train announcement.
The Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, commented, "Awesome video."

According to the ocean conservation group Oceana, great barracudas are recognised for their large mouths filled with two sets of razor-sharp teeth.
These fish are naturally curious and primarily rely on sight to hunt. They sometimes try to snatch fish from spear fishers or swim towards divers, mistaking the shine of a diving knife for a fish.
Despite this behaviour, unprovoked attacks on humans by great barracudas are rare.
