Is Obsession With Reverse Parking Becoming A Malaysian Culture Now?

IMHO, it is still not as bad as double parking, though.

Many Malaysian drivers today prefer reverse parking over forward parking. But is this becoming a trend — or even a culture?

We can understand the rationale behind the obsession with reverse parking, it's worth considering the problems, or should I say the nuisance, that it creates.

While psychological and personality factors may play a role, many drivers prefer reverse parking because it makes exiting easier. They do not want to take the trouble to reverse carefully when it is time to go back.

We understand.

While it may be good to think about the future, our current actions should not cause any trouble to others. Be ethical a bit, lah!

Reverse parking may be good in a place where there is no high traffic and not many cars queuing up behind our car waiting to be given way to pass through

Unless you are a fast and skilled driver who is able to park in a single try, it is advisable not to create a nuisance by making other cars wait for you to park, trying 10 times to gostan and park properly.

This mentality of Malaysians who do not care for others or about others is getting worse lately.

Even though we can associate this behaviour with various factors such as age, profession, lifestyle, personality, and the car itself (Ferrari or Kancil), Malaysian drivers need to be more considerate about the time and urgency of others who may not be able to tolerate your parking dramas.

Just imagine a busy road during peak hours with many cars fighting for parking lots, and you are slowly taking your own sweet time to reverse park as your skills are not up to par.

This situation will definitely create anger and frustration for other drivers who are rushing.

The drivers might be cursing you as well. If the intention is to show off your expensive car, well, you can do that in an exhibition or park at your office or house.

We probably need to weigh the priority for the understanding and tolerance level on both sides.

Reverse parking is still not as bad as double parking

But it needs consideration of the place you chose to reverse park.

Be more aware of your surroundings, be considerate of others, and know where and when you are parking!
