ABC Cooking Studio is a Japanese cooking school that has two outlets in Kuala Lumpur. The studio welcomes everyone from first-timers to experienced bakers.

As a school, you have to sign up for a minimum of six lessons for a course – but fret not, each two-hour lesson is casual, and can be taken anytime over a period of a year.

The school specialises in cake and bread recipes originally developed in Japan. They also provide courses in making wagashi – traditional and delicate Japanese sweets.

Originally from Hong Kong, Bakebe is an entirely Instagrammable studio that guides bakers step-by-step with a completely interactive app, and not an instructor.

They will prepare everything, from ingredients to equipment, for you to experiment with, and also clean up and nicely box up your handmade dessert after you are done.

They accept walk-in customers and prices for their three-hour sessions vary according to the difficulty of the cake you choose to make. Alternatively, you can also call them up and book the space for up to 30 people at a time for a grand baking party.

As a shared kitchen, you can buy daily, weekly, or even annual passes to access their ready-to-use, commercial-grade cooking and baking facilities so that you don't have to worry about space, equipment, storage, and overhead costs, such as when baking at home.
