A woman has shared a video showcasing how her parents turned their modest public housing unit, or Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) flat, into a stylish and modern home

Taking to TikTok, user @nurulsyazzz shared that her parents have owned the 650 sq ft flat in PPR Kampung Muhibbah, Kuala Lumpur, for nearly 20 years.

Unlike most PPR residents who rent the units, Nurul said her parents are homeowners and live there alone as their adult children have moved out.

"My parents got this house without applying for it 20 years ago because the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) took their previous one for another project," she explained.

In her TikTok video, Nurul first shows the exterior corridor, which looks like any typical public housing block

However, stepping inside reveals a stunning transformation — the home resembles a unit in a high-end condominium with a minimalist yet cosy ambiance.

With sleek white kitchen countertops, light grey cabinets, a beautifully lit bathroom sink, and dark-toned furniture that adds depth to the living space, every corner has been thoughtfully designed.

Nurul proudly shared that her parents did most of the renovation themselves, carefully planning and purchasing items over the years

She added that her father used his hard-earned savings for the renovation.

"The renovation cost was under RM50,000. The money is all from my father's years of hard work," Nurul told curious netizens, adding that her father was only willing to spend the amount because he could not afford to move out.

"If they could've afforded to buy a new house with that money, they would have moved out already," she said.

Nurul's TikTok has garnered over two million views, with netizens praising her parents' resourcefulness in making the most of their home

"Even though it's small, it looks neat and pleasant. A clean and tidy home brings peace to the soul," one TikTok user commented.

Another praised their creativity, saying, "It's not about how big your home is, but how you design it! Even a large house can look dull if not properly styled. Kudos to the homeowners!"

One user summed it up perfectly: "Alhamdulillah, such a smart way to decorate. This PPR flat looks as stunning as a condo. Since they can afford it now, it's always good to create a comfortable home. Well done."
