You know the bottom bit of a lettuce head that we often cut and throw away?
Turns out, they have a lot more use to them than we thought.

TikTok user Crystal Santos shows that if you take these bottom bits and dunk them in water, they will regrow new lettuce leaves!

Within just two weeks, her lettuce heads had brand new leaves that could be plucked and eaten

Her video, which has been played over 32 million times, left people in awe.

She noted that she planted the lettuce into the ground after two weeks, as plants still need nutrients from the sun and soil to give them flavour.
The water needs to be changed regularly and the house cannot be too warm, otherwise the roots may rot.

Crystal also tried this method with celery and saw regrowth within seven days
Apparently, you can do this with multiple types of vegetables and fruits, including spring onions, carrots, pineapples, and bok choy
