Here's A Step-By-Step Guide To Switch To The New Digital Road Tax

You no longer need to deal with annoying road tax stickers that peel.

Earlier this year, it was announced that private vehicle owners no longer need to display their physical road tax stickers

The move, which is part of the Transport Ministry's efforts to digitise the Road Transport Department (JPJ) services, has since been carried out in stages for private vehicles and motorcycles.

According to Bernama, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said it will take six months to a year to go fully digital. He added that the ministry has not set a cut-off date for the full transition to digital road tax, so vehicle owners can still choose to continue using the physical sticker.

According to JPJ, about 30% of vehicle owners have already switched to the digital method.

If you're thinking of switching, here's how you can get started:

1. To switch to the digital format, you will need to download the MyJPJ app on your phone during your next road tax renewal

2. After you have downloaded the MyJPJ app, make an account and sign in. Then, renew your road tax online or at the centre.

3. Once you've signed in and renewed your road tax, your profile on the app will show your updated road tax and driving licence details

4. The app should also indicate that your road tax is active
