After nearly two years of suspension, the Aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is expected to resume operations by 31 January 2025

The Aerotrain, which provides connectivity between KLIA's main terminal building and satellite terminal, has been out of operation since March 2023 after a major breakdown left 114 passengers stranded midway on the track.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that Malaysia Airports (MAHB) has secured three new Aerotrain sets, each with three coaches, designed to accommodate up to 270 passengers per trip.

Currently, two of these sets have already arrived at the airport, while a third, designated as a 'back-up train', is scheduled to arrive in October 2024. The trains are presently in the installation phase, with rigorous testing and commissioning by relevant authorities set to follow before operations can officially commence.

After Aerotrain services were suspended in March 2023, airport buses were introduced as a temporary alternative mode of transfer

Loke said that these airport buses will continue to operate once Aerotrain services resume, as an option for passengers to help accommodate high traffic volume.
