Move Over, Myvi. Perodua Bezza Takes Over As The 'King Of The Road'
However, Myvi still holds a special place in people's hearts.
Once the undisputed "King of the Road", the iconic Perodua Myvi is facing a surprising challenge from an unlikely contender — the Perodua Bezza
The Bezza secured the top position as Malaysia's most popular car in 2023, ending the Myvi's five-year reign.
A total of 56,735 Bezzas were registered as of September 2023, outpacing the Myvi, which lagged behind its challenger with just 45,014 cars, according to data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Meanwhile, the Perodua Axia is hot on the heels of the Myvi, with 44,722 cars registered in the same period.

What could be the possible reasons for Bezza's success?
These reasons could be due to these three factors: lower price point, fuel efficiency, and luggage capacity.
The Bezza is cheaper; its highest-end model costs as much as Myvi's lowest-end model.
According to Bernama, the price of the Bezza (excluding insurance) ranges from RM35,580 to RM49,980, while the Myvi ranges from RM46,500 to RM59,900 (excluding insurance).
The Bezza is also more fuel-efficient and offers more cargo space than the Myvi. This makes the Bezza a more practical choice for families and budget-conscious buyers, especially during economic downturns.
However, Myvi still holds a special place in people's hearts
Despite losing the sales crown, the Myvi maintains a strong online presence, reported Bernama.
Google Trends data shows significantly higher search interest in 'Myvi' compared to 'Bezza'.

Myvi searches are also more concentrated in the East Coast states like Terengganu and Kelantan. Meanwhile, Bezza was more popular in the states of Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan.
While the Bezza's practicality and affordability have made it a popular choice for Malaysians, the Myvi retains a strong emotional connection, as evidenced by its high online search volume and regional popularity
