Let's get real for a second - how many times in your life have you pulled up to a carpark entry point and had to perform this "maneuver"?

Well, Sunway Pyramid's new carpark system may just be the solution to that predicament.

In a first among shopping malls in Malaysia, Sunway Pyramid is currently testing out a new license plate recognition system in a bid to ease traffic flow in the mall's carpark.

In addition, the new system is expected to reduce the time needed to enter and exit the carpark.

The mall's management also hopes to reduce the number of lost or misplaced carpark tickets as well as the hassle of long queues at auto pay machines.

HOW IT WORKS: Simply drive up to the entry point, where the system will recognise your license plate and lift the boom gate for entry "within miliseconds". The same mechanism is employed for exit points.

Yep, no rolling down the window or stretching out to pick out a parking ticket required!

The new system has yet to be rolled out for the general public, as the mall is currently conducting a pilot test with more than 200 registered vehicles to track the system's performance and usability

According to HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks, the system will be "rolled out to all customers in stages".

Those who are interested to sign up for registration are advised to follow Sunway Pyramid on Facebook for further updates.
