Tucked away in this cultural museum in Melaka is a charming café nestled within the courtyard of a 350-year-old building

The Melaka Straits Cultural Museum houses Kapitan Roastery Café in a setting that instantly transports you to the ancient Ming Dynasty, with its centuries-old beams and tiles still intact.

There are two entrances to the building: the main entrance located along Jalan Tukang Besi, and a 'secret' passageway next to The Stolen Cup café, which also leads you to the courtyard.

Upon entering, you'll be greeted by an open courtyard adorned with wooden tables and chairs, offering a delightful ambience to enjoy your teatime snacks

The museum itself is closed temporarily. But you can still enjoy refreshments at Kapitan Roastery Café and step back in time surrounded by the historical charm of this hidden gem.

It almost looks like a scene of out of Mulan!

The café serves Nyonya kuih, coffee, tea, and other delicacies

It recently added a menu with Taiwanese-inspired dishes, such as braised pork rice, three-cup chicken rice, pan-friend cabbage dumplings, fried sweet potato balls, Taiwanese sausage, and a variety of other dishes.

There are also DIY batik painting kits for sale, which allow you to create your own masterpiece while you sip on your beverage, and a small mini mart selling snacks and games from your childhood that'll evoke nostalgic memories.
