The cashier was working at the store when the suspect wearing a cap and a yellow cloth over his face barged in at about 7.20pm

The police said the suspect was armed with a machete and threatened the victim to open the counter to hand over all the cash inside.

However, the cashier managed to stall the thief by saying she had no key to open it.

"This angered the suspect who shouted at the victim," said Mohd Zain, as quoted by The Star.

The robber then demanded the cashier to hand over her phone. Instead, she bolted to the store room and locked herself inside.

"The suspect then fled the scene but not before snatching several boxes of cigarettes. The victim was unhurt during the robbery," added the police.

The police have since tracked down and caught the suspect in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras on Tuesday, 18 October

In a statement on Wednesday, 19 October, the Cheras police said two local men believed to be involved in the robbery were apprehended for investigation.

Cheras district police chief ACP Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
