A man allegedly brandished a metal rod to threaten a referee after his son was given a red card during a school-level football match in Negeri Sembilan

The video was posted by X user @ronramka, who claimed that the father wanted to beat up the referee for making the call.

The one-minute-28-second video shows the man storming onto the football field with a metal rod before he was quickly stopped by several People's Volunteer Corps (RELA) members, who confiscated the object from him.

The RELA members were then seen trying to calm the man down and prevent him from entering the pitch.

According to Harian Metro, the incident is believed to have occurred at a Malaysia Schools Sports Council (MSSM) tournament in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan.

Fortunately, the situation was brought under control, and the man left the venue peacefully with his son

Addressing the viral incident, Negeri Sembilan State Education Department director Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin assured that all referees involved in the tournament are impartial.

The referees are appointed by MSSM officials and cannot be any of the state's school teachers, he told Harian Metro.

He added that the school took appropriate measures in handling the issue, and hoped that such incidents would not happen again.
