Animal rights organisations are seeking public assistance to identify a man seen brutally beating a dog to death with a stick in a recently circulated video

Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia and Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) shared the video of the cruel act on Facebook yesterday, 5 November, appealing for information on the perpetrator's identity, the location, and the date of the incident.

Both groups condemned the act and the recording, which included someone laughing behind the camera as the abuse took place.

The incident is believed to have occurred in Sabah.

Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia is urging anyone with information to file a police report to initiate an investigation for animal cruelty

Alternatively, witnesses may also contact Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia through their Animal Cruelty Hotline via WhatsApp at +6011-71245930 or SAFM via WhatsApp at +6013-7066770.

Under Section 30 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, causing the death of an animal without justifiable reason can lead to a penalty of up to three years in prison, a fine of up to RM100,000, or both.

"As a compassionate society, we must unite to ensure that those responsible for this cruel act do not escape the punishment they deserve," said SAFM.
