Batu Pahat Council Revokes Licence Of The Company Behind 'Allah' Socks Controversy

The company earlier suspended the operations of its factory after receiving threats of arson.

The Batu Pahat Municipal Council (MPBP) has revoked the operational licence of Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd, the company responsible for the distribution of socks bearing the word 'Allah'

"The factory was served the notice under the Trade, Business, and Industry Licensing (MPBP) 2016 by-laws for violating conditions stipulated with storage and shoe distribution," the council said in a statement.

According to MPBP, the notice was served to the company's managing director Soh Hui San during a meeting yesterday, 20 March.

Earlier, the company ceased the operations of its factory after receiving threats of arson

The company, expressing concerns over the leakage of its employees' personal data and threats of arson, had placed a closure notice at the factory's main entrance, reported the New Straits Times.

The factory also displayed a banner, extending its apologies to Malaysians over the incident.

It also promised to be sensitive towards the country's multi-religious society, preserve harmony, and enhance quality-control efforts.
