In an effort to reduce accidents caused by unsafe road conditions, the government is prioritising road maintenance with a significant allocation of funds

A total of RM2.8 billion has been set aside to maintain roads under the Malaysian Federal Roads System.

Out of this amount:
  • RM1 billion is dedicated to the immediate repair of non-main roads, including secondary roads, FELDA roads, industrial roads, and those damaged by floods.
  • RM450 million is allocated to G1-G4 contractors, an increase from the RM300 million allocated this year.

For state roads, RM5.5 billion has been allocated through the Malaysian Road Record Information System (MARRIS) fund

Road cleaning efforts have been improved to include drains, water drainage, road shoulders, and the overall environment to enhance safety.

Additionally, the government has approved the purchase of temporary Bailey bridges using the 2025 MARRIS allocation, allowing state governments to manage roads that are cut-off by floods.

Furthermore, RM178 million will be spent on installing new street lights and smart traffic lights at federal roads across the country

To accelerate the repair of potholes on federal roads, RM30 million has been allocated to enhance the role of District Engineers, ensuring that repairs are addressed more swiftly.

To reduce accidents caused by overloaded vehicles, the government will also install High Speed Weight in Motion (HSWIM) systems at selected locations.
