At least three men were injured after two vehicles were seen ramming into a crowd outside a nightclub in Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur

On the night of the first day of Chinese New Year, 29 January, a video captured two vehicles emerging from a side lane before ploughing into people standing by the roadside in front of a building.

The vehicles were then seen making a U-turn, driving against traffic, and deliberately swerving to hit the same group before speeding away, according to footage uploaded on multiple social media pages.

The video showed a white Toyota Hilux and a silver Toyota Vios intentionally targeting the crowd.

The Hilux swerved and rammed into multiple men, sending them sprawling, while the Vios, following closely behind, struck the same group in what appeared to be a deliberate and violent act.

Following the violent incident, a witness lodged a police report

A total of five people have since been arrested, with police hunting for three more.

The five — all of whom have criminal records — were arrested in Banting, Selangor yesterday, 30 January, according to Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob.

The suspects are aged in their 20s and 30s, and their remand application is expected to be filed today, 31 January. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempt to murder.

Meanwhile, Azry assured those living in the area to not worry.

"We are doing our best to arrest the remaining suspects. Those with information on the case should contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222."
