Datuk And Datin Arrested For Running An Illegal Maid Agency From Home In Shah Alam
The police also detained 13 Indonesian women aged between 22 and 47 years old.
The Immigration Department recently arrested a married couple who had been running an illegal maid agency from their home in Shah Alam
According to a statement released on the department's Facebook page yesterday, 26 February, the couple's home was raided by the enforcement team on 16 February after they received an anonymous tip from the public.
Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said that the team detained the couple, as well as 13 Indonesian women, aged between 22 to 47 years old.
"The couple's house was being used as a home for the Indonesian women," he said.

Investigations discovered that the Indonesian women entered the country disguised as tourists using a Social Visit Pass (PLS)
The Indonesian women would be charged RM3,500 to RM4,000 as an entry fee, which they had to work off as house-maids or through cleaning jobs. Their bosses would deduct their debt off their paychecks every consecutive month.
Khairul said the 66-year-old man, and his wife, 56, held the title Datuk and Datin, and liaised with an agent in Indonesia.
"It is believed that this couple managed the illegal entry and supply of maids by working closely with an agent from Indonesia."

The couple is being investigated under Section 55E of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for allegedly allowing illegal immigrants to enter or stay on premises that they own, supervise, or manage.
On the other hand, the maids were arrested for allegedly committing crimes offences under the Immigration Act and under the Immigration Regulations 1963.
"The department will be referring this case to the Labour Department under the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) since the recruitment of workers had been carried out without a valid license," Khairul said.
The Immigration Department said that they are constantly on the lookout for activities such as these, where foreign maids and daily cleaning services are offered illegally on social media.
"We urge them (the public) to be careful and to follow the rules and regulations set by the relevant authorities when engaging with the employment of foreigners," read the statement.
