On polling day, 19 November, voters who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 will be separated from the others to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, according to the Election Commission (EC)

However, for this to work, individuals need to inform Ministry of Health (MOH) officials of their health status before coming to the polling centre, said EC deputy chairperson Azmi Sharom.

"They (MOH officials) will separate the COVID-positive voters from the others and the voting process for this group will also be done quickly," Bernama quoted him as saying when asked about the process for those who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 during the early voting yesterday, 15 November.

According to Azmi, election workers will also ensure that the voting process for COVID-19 positive individuals is done as quickly as possible.

Separately, Health director-general (DG) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has said COVID-positive voters must wear face masks

While face masks are compulsory for COVID-19 patients, it's not compulsory for others. However, members of the public are highly recommended to wear face masks while voting, Noor Hisham said.
