MOE: Special Holiday For Schools On 19 April
Meanwhile, the public holiday for Aidilfitri is tentatively fixed for 22 April.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek today, 11 April, announced that next Wednesday, 19 April, will be a special holiday for government schools
This comes after the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) urged the Ministry of Education (MOE) to give teachers a special day off on 19 April in anticipation that Hari Raya Aidilfitri would fall on 21 April.
"We considered everyone's views, and for the sake of everyone, especially teachers and MOE staff, making plans to go back to their hometowns (for Aidilfitri)," Fadhlina told reporters at an event today.

Free Malaysia Today reported that the United Arab Emirates-based International Astronomy Centre has predicted that the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri would fall on 21 April.
