Government Will Pay Up To RM2,100 Per Room To Quarantine Malaysians In Hotels For 14 Days
There are 45 hotels designated as quarantine centres, which include five-star hotels.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said the government will cover RM150 per day to quarantine Malaysians returning from overseas in hotels for 14 days
In a press conference today, 7 April, Ismail said the government has listed 45 hotels designated as quarantine centres, where returning Malaysians can choose to undergo quarantine at.
He said the RM150 coverage per day will be used to pay the cost of hotel accommodation and food. A 14-day quarantine would mean the government will be paying a total of RM2,100 for each room at these hotels.
"The cost of other services, such as laundry, will be borne by the individuals," said the Defence Minister.
Putrajaya previously announced that beginning 3 April, all Malaysians returning from abroad and foreign visitors must undergo a 14-day quarantine, reported Malay Mail.

Ismail said the designated hotels have three-star ratings and above
According to him, there are several four- and five-star hotels in the 45 designated hotels, but those who wish to be quarantined at these hotels will have to foot the bill if the charges go over RM150.
He said the request to include luxury hotels as quarantine centres came from foreign embassies, citing that their diplomats want better accommodation.
Regardless of what rating the hotel has, everyone who is under quarantine will still have to follow the same rules.
"Even though they are at a hotel, the SOP (standard operating procedure) is the same as every other quarantine centre," Ismail stressed.
"They cannot leave their rooms, they cannot receive guests such as friends and relatives, none of that is allowed."
According to a Federal Gazette published on 4 April, there are 49 hotels that have been declared as quarantine centres
