Hans Isaac Wants Homeowners To Be Charged For Having Illegal Android Boxes In Houses

The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac is drawing up a proposal to hold homeowners acountable for illegal Android boxes usage
The Star reported that the statement was made during the Fast Track 2019 Creative Digital Economy Forum yesterday, 1 August.
"I'm putting a paper together to propose that the owner of the house is responsible for the use of illegal Android boxes," Hans told media at the event.
"It doesn't matter if the person is renting the house to another person, who bought the device," he added.

An Android TV box is a streaming device that runs on an Android operating system. There are both legal and illegal versions of the device.
Additionally, Finas is looking towards setting up a "war room" in its office to combat digital piracy

"We will discuss what to do when we receive reports about digital piracy, so that we can take action immediately," Hans added.
However, netizens were not receptive to the suggestion of holding homeowners accountable for an issue that is out of their control
"We rent the house to [tenant] and we need to go check the house everyday and see they got buy any TVBOX. You think the whole Malaysia owner of the house got so free to check the TVbox in the house they rent out. What kind of thinking is this," one netizen questioned.

Another netizen remarked that most homes "technically" belong to the banks.
