On Wednesday, 29 May, a 27-year-old content creator was detained for allegedly exposing his genitals during a video call with a woman

Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Mohamad Lazim Ismail confirmed that his department received a report about the incident on 17 May.

He said that the victim, a 24-year-old woman, claimed that the suspect committed public indecency over a video call.

"Initial investigations revealed that the victim had been acquainted with the suspect via Instagram since early May.

"The suspect made a video call to the victim, during which he exposed his genitals and spoke indecently," Mohamad Lazim said in a statement.

The suspect has been released on bail, and the investigation papers are being completed before being referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP)

"The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955," said Mohamad Lazim.

He also emphasised the importance of being cautious when using social media.

"The public is advised to exercise caution when using social media and not be easily duped by people they have just met.

"If anyone has any information, they can report it to the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999, the Wangsa Maju Police Hotline at 03-92899222, or any nearby police station," he added.
