A housewife with a 'Datuk' title was charged at the Ipoh Magistrate's Court today, 12 October, with allegedly stealing two Rolex watches from her husband, an officer with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)

The 41-year-old woman, Datuk Mou Ei Leen, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Magistrate Siti Nora Sharif, according to New Straits Times.

The mother of two allegedly committed the crime in January 2021 at a house in Pinggiran Rapat Ria, which was used to store valuables.

The stolen items include a Rolex Sky-Dweller wristwatch (Model 326135) with the serial number 0890R359 and a Rolex GMT Master-II wristwatch (Model 116718 LN), which bears the serial number A9R56702.

If found guilty, she could be jailed for up to 10 years and fined

During the proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Noor Nabilah Norzam proposed bail of RM7,000. However, Mou's lawyer, Gurbachan Singh, pleaded for a lower bail, arguing that the accused is a homemaker and needs to take care of her school-going children.

"The client is currently undergoing a divorce and has been living separately from her husband for the past two years. At the time of the incident, they were still residing together," he explained.

Following which, the court granted bail at RM3,000 with one surety.
