Japan Man Starts Dating Agency After 2,000 Failed Dates To Help Others Find Love
Yoshio endured a relentless string of rejections after joining multiple dating services.
Dating in Japan isn't easy, especially when economic realities collide with romantic expectations
Just ask Yoshio, a 44-year-old man from Shizuoka Prefecture who endured nearly 2,000 blind dates before finally finding his match.
His struggles — living with his parents, earning a modest income, and facing constant rejection — eventually led him to start his own matchmaking agency.
Yoshio, who holds a master’s degree in science, began his search for love eight years ago, South China Morning Post reports.

He joined multiple dating services, hoping to find a meaningful connection. Instead, he faced a relentless string of rejections
Women ghosted him, dismissed him after a single meeting, or even scoffed at his choice of car.
With an annual income of 3.5 million yen (RM101,316) — well below matchmaking agencies' preferred threshold of 5.5 million yen (RM159,211) — he was seen as a less-than-desirable candidate.
Despite these setbacks, Yoshio refused to give up. He refined his approach, learned how to plan better dates, and improved his conversational skills.
Then, through a dating app, he met the woman who would later become his wife
What set him apart, he believes, was his sincerity and perseverance — qualities that resonated with her. After more than a year of dating, they married and later welcomed a child.
Inspired by his own experience, Yoshio launched the Yoshio Marriage Laboratory, a dating service aimed at helping those struggling with love and marriage.
His story has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with some applauding his resilience and others questioning the sheer number of dates he endured.
But for Yoshio, the message is simple: persistence pays off, in love and in life.
